How Much Does a Taos Ski Trip Cost in 2026? Lift Tickets, Rentals, and Where Families Save
A Taos ski trip can cost less than you’d think if you plan ahead. Early-season adult lift tickets start at $75 when you buy at least 72 hours ahead, kids 6 and under ski free with a paying adult, and ski or snowboard rentals at our shop start at $25 a day for kids. Lodging, food, and travel are the big variables, so this guide sticks to what you’ll pay on the mountain.

How much is a lift ticket at Taos Ski Valley?
It depends on the date and how early you buy. For the 2026–27 season:
- Early season, through December 10: adult tickets start at $75 when you buy at least 72 hours ahead (Taos Ski Valley via PR Newswire). Kids 7 to 12 start at $55, and teens and seniors 65 to 79 start at $65 (SnowBrains).
- Free: kids 6 and under and adults 80 and over ski free with a paying adult (Taos Ski Valley, SnowBrains).
- The rest of the season: buying at least 72 hours ahead saves up to 33% (PR Newswire). Prices vary by date, so check skitaos.com/tickets for yours.
Taos is also on the Ikon Pass and the Mountain Collective (PR Newswire), so check your pass before buying day tickets.
How much does it cost to rent skis for a day at Taos?
At Cottam’s, rental packages are priced per person, per day, and the price is the same online and in the shop:
- Child: $25 a day, with an adult rental. Skis or a snowboard plus boots, for kids 12 and under, up to 140 cm.
- Standard: $45 a day. Dependable skis or a snowboard, with boots, for beginners and intermediates.
- Premium: $55 a day. Our newest fleet and most advanced skis, with boots and poles, for every level from greens to blacks. Ski only this season.
Add-ons and extras, also per day:
- Helmet: $15
- Jacket: $18
- Pant / Bib: $18
- Own boots: bring your own and we take $3 a day off your package price.
Every rental includes free overnight storage at the shop. Full details are on our rentals page.
Do Taos ski lessons include rentals?
Yes, some do. The resort’s First Time and Children’s lessons include a lift ticket and rentals (Taos Ski Valley beginner guide). If your child is in one of those lessons all day, you don’t need to rent for them that day.
Where renting from us makes sense: parents and kids skiing together, adults who aren’t in a lesson, the days after lessons end, and anyone renting for a whole trip who wants their setup sized before they arrive.
What does a Taos ski trip cost for a family of four?
Here’s a sample three-day early-season trip for two adults and two kids, ages 10 and 5, everyone skiing:
Lift tickets, bought at least 72 hours ahead (early-season starting prices)
- Two adults: $75 each, per day
- One child, age 10: $55 per day
- One child, age 5: free
- Lift tickets: $205 a day, $615 for three days
Rentals at Cottam’s
- Two adults, Standard: $45 each, per day
- Two kids, Child: $25 each, per day
- Rentals: $140 a day, $420 for three days
Total for three days: $1,035, before tax. Add $15 a day per helmet if you rent them. Prices rise after December 10, and lessons, lodging, food, and travel are extra.
Your numbers will differ with your dates and ages. The point is to price tickets and rentals separately so you know where the money goes.
Where can families save on a Taos ski trip?
- Buy lift tickets at least 72 hours ahead. It saves up to 33%, and it’s how you get the $75 early-season price.
- Ski early season. Discounted tickets run through December 10.

- Check what your lesson includes. First Time and Children’s lessons already include rentals.
- Bring your own boots if you have them. That takes $3 a day off your package.

How does reserving rental gear work?
Reserving is free, with no deposit. Just a card on file, and you pay at pickup. When you reserve, you tell us each person’s height, weight, shoe size, and ability, and we size, tune, and stage each setup before you arrive.
Pick up at 101 Sutton Place, a short walk from the resort shuttle drop-off. You can pick up after 2 PM the day before your rental starts, at no extra charge.
