Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Tank, Inc. d/b/a Cottam's Ski Shops ("Cottam's," "we," "us," or "our") collects through cottamsskishops.com (the "Site"), how we use it, and the choices you have. It works alongside our Terms of Service. Information you give us in person at our shops, including payment at pickup, is handled by our in-store systems and the rental agreement you sign there.

The short version

• We collect what you type into our forms, plus basic, privacy-friendly analytics.
• We use it to get your gear ready, answer you, and run the shops.
• We don't sell or rent your personal information, and we don't run ad-tracking cookies.
• We never take payment or card details on the Site.

1. Information you give us

Reservations

Your name, email, phone number, pickup shop, pickup and rental dates, party size, and any notes. For each renter: name, age, gender, height, weight, US shoe size, ski or snowboard and stance, ability level, package, and helmet choice. Sizing details are used to choose equipment and set ski bindings.

Contact form

Your name, email, phone number (optional), and message.

Mailing list

Your email address.

Job applications

The position, your name, email, phone number, season availability, interest in employee housing, your note to us, and a resume if you attach one.

Texts, calls, and emails

If you call, text, or email a shop, we receive your phone number or email address and whatever you send us.

2. Information collected automatically

• Analytics. We use Seline and Vercel Web Analytics to count page views, see which pages and links are used, and track whether forms are submitted successfully. These tools are designed to work without advertising cookies and do not identify you by name. We never put form contents, names, emails, or phone numbers into analytics events.
• Performance. Vercel Speed Insights measures page load speed so we can keep the Site fast.
• Spam protection. Our contact and job application forms use Cloudflare Turnstile, which looks at browser and device signals to tell people from bots.
• Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, and the pages requested, for security and troubleshooting.
• Saved reservation progress. The reservation form saves your progress in your browser's local storage so you don't lose it if you leave the page. It stays on your device and is cleared when you submit or choose "Start over."

3. How we use information

• Size, stage, and hold rental gear for your reservation
• Confirm reservations and contact you about pickup, changes, or questions
• Reply to messages and review job applications
• Send mailing list updates if you signed up
• Understand how the Site is used and improve it
• Prevent spam, fraud, and abuse, and keep the Site secure
• Meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations

4. How we share information

We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't share it for others' marketing. We share it only:

• With service providers who run the Site for us: Vercel (hosting, analytics, and mailing list storage), Supabase (reservation database), Resend (sending emails), Seline (analytics), and Cloudflare (spam protection). They may use the information only to provide their services to us.
• Within Cottam's, with staff at the shop handling your reservation or request.
• When required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our customers, staff, or business.
• If the business is sold or reorganized, as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.

5. Text messages

Both shops accept calls and texts. If you text us, or give us your mobile number with a reservation, we may text you about that request, such as a pickup reminder. We don't send marketing texts without your separate consent. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time, or HELP for help.

We do not sell, rent, or share mobile numbers or text messaging opt-in consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing purposes.

6. How long we keep information

We keep reservation records for as long as needed to serve you and meet business, tax, and legal requirements. We keep mailing list addresses until you unsubscribe. Messages and job applications are kept as long as they're useful for the request or hiring season they relate to, then deleted.

7. Security

Information is sent to the Site over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and reservation data is stored in a database that is not publicly accessible. No system is perfectly secure, but we limit access to the people and providers who need it.

8. Children

The Site is meant for adults planning trips. We don't knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Parents and guardians may provide a child's name and sizing details when reserving gear for them; we use that information only for the rental. If you believe a child has sent us information directly, contact us and we'll delete it.

9. Your choices

• Access, correct, or delete. Ask us to see, fix, or delete the personal information we hold about you. We may keep some records when the law requires it.
• Mailing list. Use the unsubscribe link in any list email, or contact us to be removed.
• Texts. Reply STOP to any text from us.
• Browser controls. You can clear local storage or block scripts in your browser. The Site does not respond to "Do Not Track" signals, since we don't track you across other sites.

10. Changes to this policy

We'll update this page if our practices change. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed.
